Anthropology is currently an exciting field for open access (OA) publishing, so together with a group of colleagues at the University of Cambridge, we have developed the open-access Cambridge Encyclopedia of Anthropology. You can find it here: www.anthroencyclopedia.com
At the University of Edinburgh my team and I are incorporating Wikipedia into teaching. Our aim is to train students on how to edit this free encyclopedia and to make a certain amount of mandatory edits part of their course. Hopefully, this will provide them with first-hand insights into the changing nature of today's publishing landscape. You can find a how-to-guide and a brief assessment of using Wikipedia editing as part of teaching here.
